After a loss
Keep your claim organised. Kept on your device.
A claim can run for weeks, across several adjusters, contractors and receipts. Write it down here as it happens: the claim number, every call, every receipt and every date you were given. Nothing is uploaded.
The first days
Tick these off as they are done. Follow any instruction from emergency services or your insurer first.
Claim details
Every call and email
Write down who you spoke to, when, and what they said would happen next. It settles disagreements later.
Receipts and expenses
Keep every receipt, even small ones. Ask your insurer which of these your policy pays back, and how.
| Date | What | Kind | Amount | Receipt | Remove |

Dates and to-dos
Deadlines you are given, documents to send, appointments with the adjuster or contractor.
Why a written record helps
Claims are handled by people who change shifts, go on holiday and hand files over. A dated note of each conversation, with the name of the person you spoke to, lets the next person pick up where the last one left off, and gives you something specific to point to if a promise is forgotten.
If you disagree with how a claim is being handled, ask the insurer about its internal complaint process first. Your broker, if you have one, can help you understand the policy wording and what to ask.
